Gary Gygax, best known for inventing the Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game, is dead. No phoenix down, revive spell, or priest incantation is bringing him back either.
He was slain by a Level 22 Lich lord named Ravinox in the underrealm of Menzoberranzan. After 69 years and 190,000 experience points, he was finally bested in an epic, 3-hour long fight. After sustaining serious HP damage early on, he was finally KO’ed with a Level 6 lightning blast that sent him to the Forgotten Realms.
Anyone who has ever played a game made by Squaresoft owes the Gaxter a sincere thanks. He inspired millions of game designers, computer technicians, and general geeks across the globe. Millions of fanboys will attend his funeral services next week, which Elminster the Wise will DM.
