After years of longing, I have had the In-N-Out experience, several times actually. I do have to say that it has been well worth the wait. The menu is simple, the prices are reasonable, and the food is tasty. They even have people come to your car to take your order with a wireless device so that when you get to the window, you just pay and pick up. Wonderful experience.
Also, employees receive hourly wages above the minimum state requirement, and also get insurance after a certain time period of employment. There are bible verses printed on all paper cups, and the kitchen has large windows so that all customers can see what’s happening at all times. To top it all off, however, is a “secret” menu, where longtime fans can add certain things like cheese to their fries, or strawberry AND chocolate ice cream to their vanilla shakes. Fantastic.
After all is said and done though, it’s still just a fucking fast food burger joint. The fries are greasy, the burger is sloppy, and the sauce is basically pure fat. Anyone that thinks fries, a burger, and a drink for $4.63 is a miracle is just a straight idiot. The meat is the same quality as any other shitty place, and the oil they use is just as unhealthy as it looks. Also, dining in is a 3 day event. You get a number, usually somewhere in the 4 or 500’s, and they don’t call you until they see you start to shake or pass out. How hard is it to put some fries in a bag and hand it to me? And do you need to yell my number when I’m standing in front of you? Grow up.
