Smug assholes everywhere envy Trebek’s ability to somehow patronize, talk down, and generally demean every contestant on Jeopardy and still appear likable. Some of Trebek’s favorite things to say after a wrong answer are “No, of course…” or “Wrong time period”, or “You might have been thinking of…”. Trebek literally has all the answers 3 feet in front of him, including close answers he’s NOT allowed to accept, and he still feels the need to act like a general douchebag and that he knows everything that other people got wrong. And you know what? Everyone loves him for it. Trebek gets laughs when he says things like “Oh no! We were afraid someone might write that”. Even though the questions were obviously constructed so that people would write that. They weren’t afraid of that at all, they were hoping for it.
All said though, Trebek is a pretty awesome guy. I mean he rocked an afro, then a mustache, and now white hair and a bypassed heart. Even in the face of super intelligent people he comes off as knowing more than anyone in the room. Never has a man feigned intelligence more than Alex Trebek. I salute you, Alex Trebek, for overcoming not only a massive heart attack, but slightly above average intelligence and terrible fashion choices.
